Deep Sync Privacy Policy.

How we collect, use, and protect personal information, and what rights consumers have to control how their information is used in marketing.

Compact Information Systems, LLC d/b/a Deep Sync ("Deep Sync") provides data, marketing, hygiene, and analytics products through our brands, partners, and corporate affiliates, including AccuData Integrated Marketing, AlumniFinder, ASL Marketing, Student Research Group, College Bound Selection Service, DeepSync Labs, and HomeData (the "Services").

We take the privacy interests of the individuals whose information we handle very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we use and manage information, and what rights consumers have to control how their information is used in marketing.

1. Categories of Information We Collect and Use

To provide our Services, we receive the following categories of personal information from sources including national data compilers and our own customers. Throughout this Policy, we refer to this as "Information."

Business Contact Information

  • Name, company name, job title
  • Email address, postal address, phone number
  • Domain name and IP address of a user's web browser, timestamps, and other browser/device information
  • Information about content and pages users access, utilize, or visit on our website, or how they interact with our content
  • Contact information you provide (survey, sign-up, event, newsletter requests)
  • Information collected from offline sources, such as a business card at a trade show, used for marketing and business purposes

Consumer Information

Consumer Information we procure or that is provided by customers includes various identifying and demographic information about individuals and households, including:

  • Personal interests and hobbies
  • Financial information such as household income range
  • Information about transactions, such as purchases

State privacy laws define different age limits for minors' data. Deep Sync does not knowingly collect or license data from individuals considered minors under any applicable state law where such data is classified as sensitive. See the "Information about persons under 18 years of age" section below.

Student Information

For educational-related Services, we receive data from a variety of sources, including from students and their families (e.g., college-interest surveys), similar websites, other data compilers, and public sources such as public colleges and universities. Information often includes:

  • Academic and athletic interests and achievements; GPA or GPA range
  • High school or college of attendance, type of institution, and academic major
  • Career interests and hobbies
  • Financial information such as household income range (for grants and aid)

2. How We Use the Information We Collect

As Part of Our Services

Data Marketing Services. Our Services provide marketing information to customers, generally regarding which customers or prospects are most likely to be interested (or disinterested) in certain offers, and insights to help customers understand their customers better.

Additional Marketing Services. These may include (a) targeting and optimizing direct mail, email, display, mobile, and social media campaigns; (b) measuring online or offline ad campaign effectiveness; (c) analyzing and optimizing proprietary databases; (d) providing data hygiene, updating or cleaning databases by verifying, removing, or correcting old or incorrect information.

To Operate Our Services

We use information to personalize and improve your query, count, and order experience, and to notify you of other Deep Sync products that may interest you. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your business contact information with other companies for their own marketing purposes.

3. Categories of Third Parties and How We Share Information

  • Customers. We license Information to customers, partners, and resellers when providing Services.
  • Partners. We may share Information with business and data partners for tailored marketing, advertising, communications, and analytics. Partners may also use received data for their own commercial purposes.
  • Service Providers. Tech and customer support, marketing and advertising providers, other data providers, security vendors, payment vendors, and others that help us deliver Services.
  • Corporate Transfers. If Deep Sync, its stock, or significant assets are acquired or merged, Information may be transferred to that entity.
  • Affiliates, Parent Companies, and Subsidiaries. We may share information with affiliated or subsidiary companies.
  • As Required by Law. We may disclose Information to comply with relevant laws, respond to subpoenas or warrants, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Deep Sync, our customers, or any other person or entity.

4. Your Marketing and Data Management Choices

You may "opt out" of our marketing database by submitting an opt-out request via our secure online webform or by contacting privacy.compliance@deepsync.com. When opting out, please provide your current address and email address along with your desired request for action. There is no limit on the number of submissions; you may submit requests for multiple addresses or past information.

We acknowledge requests within 10 days and process them within 30 days from receipt, or sooner where required by law.

  • To opt out of direct mail advertising in general, visit DMA Choice. Many of our partners only accept requests directly from you; see our Consumer Name Removal Guide.
  • To opt out of online targeted ads, visit NAI or DAA. These are cookie-based, repeat per browser/device.
  • To unsubscribe from our marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any message.

Due to compliance, audit, and security policies, we reserve the right to limit the size of bulk requests. For batches over 100, contact privacy.compliance@deepsync.com directly.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies and How We Use Them

Deep Sync and its business partners use industry-standard technologies, including cookies and similar tools, on our website and (for our partners) in their marketing services. Partners may set and access their own cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies on your device.

Cookies are small data files stored on your device that act as tags identifying it. A pixel tag (or web beacon) is an invisible 1×1 image on a web page that generates a generic notice of the visit and lets a company read deployed cookies.

Disabling Cookies

Most browsers accept cookies by default. You may configure your browser to warn before accepting cookies or to refuse them. Disabling cookies may make some features of our website inoperable.

6. Data Collected Through Our Corporate Website

  • Respond to and communicate with you
  • Send offers and ads for partner brands and other offers we believe may interest you
  • Perform data analysis, including market research
  • Combine the Information with other data we obtain to improve relevance and effectiveness of products and ads
  • Use IP addresses to diagnose server problems, administer our website, identify visitors during a session, gather demographics, and tailor the site

How We Share Website Information

  • With service providers helping us deliver Services
  • To communicate with and market to you (email, direct mail, display media)
  • To comply with law, regulation, or government authority; to protect rights, safety, or property
  • In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or similar transaction

This website may link to other websites that Deep Sync thinks you'll find interesting or useful. Deep Sync is not responsible for the privacy practices of those other sites or companies.

8. Security and Data Integrity

Deep Sync takes steps to help ensure data we possess is housed and transmitted securely. This includes physical and electronic security: firewalls, encryption, hashing or truncation of data, and access controls. While no platform can guarantee 100% safety from intrusion, we employ controls designed to prevent it.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective when posted to our website. Please check back to learn of any updates.

10. Storage of Information in the United States

If you access our website from outside the United States, your connection will be through servers located in the US, and all information you provide will likely be processed and stored on web servers and internal systems located in the US Be aware that information collected may be subject to laws with lesser or different privacy standards than those in your country.

Notice Regarding State Privacy Laws and Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights with respect to your information. You have the right not to be discriminated against (as provided for in applicable law) for exercising your rights, including under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, and other state laws providing similar rights. Many of these rights are subject to exceptions and limitations.

Your Rights and Choices

How to Exercise Your Rights

Email privacy.compliance@deepsync.com or submit a request through Do Not Sell My Personal Information (opt-out) or Consumer Access Request (access). For security, we verify identity through dynamically-generated questions before completing requests.

Appeals Process

If a request cannot be completed, we will explain why. To appeal, email privacy.compliance@deepsync.com with your Request ID and reason. Where applicable, state Attorney General contacts are available for further appeal.

Right to Nondiscrimination

We will not deny, charge different prices for, or provide a different level of quality of goods or services if you choose to exercise these rights.

Information About Persons Under 18 Years of Age

We do not knowingly collect or retain personal information from minors under 14, or from minors under 18 in states where law prevents it without legal consent. Where state law has enacted age restrictions, Deep Sync applies at least the corresponding limitation:

Rhode Island Residents, Sale of Personally Identifiable Information

Deep Sync may sell or license certain categories of personally identifiable information for commercial purposes, including advertising, marketing, analytics, identity resolution, data enrichment, and related lawful business activities. We currently sell or may sell information to any legitimate business that has entered into our standard licensing agreement, including:

  • Advertising platforms and ad-tech providers
  • Marketing service providers and agencies
  • Data analytics and measurement providers
  • Data enrichment and audience modeling partners
  • Identity resolution, onboarding, and clean-room service providers
  • Direct mail and offline marketing partners, where applicable

We do not sell personally identifiable information to all categories of third parties in every instance. Recipients depend on the nature of the data, the intended use, and applicable legal and contractual restrictions.
